Google’s Android OS is the most popular smartphone platform in the US and increases it's distance to Apple
According to comScore, with a 44.8 percent market share, Google’s Android OS is the most popular smartphone platform in the US, and Samsung is the top handset manufacturer overall with 25.3 percent market share.
Android jumps 4.6 points (3 Month Avg. Ending Sep. 2011 vs. 3 Month Avg. Ending Jun. 2011) and Apple secured the #2 position, growing 0.8 percentage points to account for 27.4 percent of the smartphone market. Microsoft ranked forth with only 5.6 percent (-0.2%), after RIM with 18.9% and losing 4.6%.
